List of National and International Awards won by Dr Jaidev Singh Retola


We have been mentioning this in our earlier posts that the genius, Dr. Jaidev Singh Retola has won more than three dozen National and International awards till now, and the list just keeps getting bigger every year. The awards, medals and certificates, are enough to somewhat understand his brilliance. While most of these awards and medals are for his medical excellence, there are others for his extraordinary & meritorious deeds & services imparted towards the ailing humanity of the State & the Nation as a whole. 

Of course! We have been following his journey as being one of the best Gangrene doctors in the world but, that's not the only reason he has been awarded with all these awards. Dr. Jaidev Singh Retola has had a significant role as an expert in containing plague and other serious, communicable diseases. It was the upper Himcahali region of Himachal Pradesh, where he has been a celebrated name for foreseeing numerous, deadly Plague outbreaks. And everytime, theismiraculous doctor had the last laugh. We'll definitely love to share about this but, for now, here's the list of 28 major awards awarded to Dr Retola. (There are lots of other awards that we will share in our next post)

1.
Thakur Ved Ram, National Award for 1998. Bestowed at Bhuttico Weavers Industry at Shamshi Distt. Kullu Founded by late Thakur Ved Ram ji.
2.
Balraj Sahani, National Award For 1999 bestowed by Raja Sahib Sh. Vir Bhadra Singh Ji, Ex-C.M & CLP leader Himachal  Pradesh at Kaali  Bari Hall Shimla during All India Artists Association Annual Drama & Dance Competition function.
3.
Punjab Arts & Culture National Honor for 1999 at Jalandhar bestowed by the Commissioner M.C Jalandhar. 
4.
Himtimes Award Of Excellence for 2000 bestowed by His Excellency The Governor of Himachal Pradesh Sh.Vishnu Kant Shastri jee at Solitaire Hotel during the inaugural function of Him Times.Com the first Internet news Paper of Himachal Pradesh.
5.
One Silver Medal from IBC Cambridge England for recognizing him as one of the first 500 outstanding personalities of the world at the new millennium. His name has been included in the International Dictionary Book of IBC Cambridge England also at this occasion.
6.
Balraj Sahani National Award for second time for 2000 bestowed by His Excellency The Governor of Himachal Pradesh Sh. Suraj Bhan Jee during All India Artists Association Annual Drama & Dance competition at Kali Bari Hall Shimla-1.
7.
One Silver Medal from IBC Cambridge England for confirmation of his appointment as Deputy Director General (For Asia) out of five DDGs of the World each one from Africa, America, Asia, Europe & Oceania vide photocopy of press release by Director General, IBC Cambridge England attached. During the year 2005 vide letter from The Director General I.B.C. Cambridge England, he has been promoted further as Hon. Director-General for Asia.

Punjab Arts & Culture National Award for second time for 2001 bestowed by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University at Jallandhar on 09-12-2001.

Bharat Excellence National Award & Gold Medal conferred on him at New Delhi by the Friendship Forum of India at its annual function on 27-09-2002 to the selected candidates from World over bestowed by His Excellency The Governor of Delhi.
10.
Glory of India Award & Gold Medal conferred on him at New Delhi by the Friendship Forum of India on its annual function on 27-09-2002 to the selected candidates from the World over bestowed by Chief Election Commissioner Sh. G.V.G. Krishanmurty
11.
A Gold plated plaque from ABI America as an honor to his being selected as one of the One Hundred Most Intriguing People of 2002 of the World.
12.
Rising Personalities of India Award & Gold Medal & an International Book on Rising Personalities including his name after the only nine previous Awardees as per the list of the letter attached.
13.
Pankas National Award for 2002 bestowed on him at Jallandhar on 15-12-2002 by the Hon’ble Health Minister of Punjab Sh. Manoranjan  Kalia.
14.
A Life-time achievement award bestowed on him on 23-04-2003 by the United Writer’s Association Chennai by His Excellency The Lt. Governor of Pondicherry.
15.
Rashtriya Rattan Award & Gold Medal (Certificate Of Excellence) for 2003 by the International Penguin Publishing House, New Delhi on 25-07-2003 during the annual function of National Unity & Economic Growth for 2003.
16.
Pride of India Gold Award & Gold Medal(Certificate of Excellence) for the year 2003 by the International Penguin Publishing House, New Delhi on 25-07-2003 during the annual function of National Unity & Economic Growth for 2003.
17.
America sought help from Dr.Retola in connection with effective, prompt control & with meagre number of deaths in future plague outbreaks in America as per photocopy of the news paper attached.
18.
Induction of Dr.Retola’s Biography & Portrait into the Hall Of Fame in ABI, USA during 9th day of May 2003. Photocopy attached.

Dr. Retola proposed and named for a candidate for a Master Diploma with honours from the World Academy of Letters by The Chancellor J.M.Evans, California,U.S.A., vide dated: 23-01-2004.

Induction of Dr.Retola’s Biography & Portrait into the IBC Cambridge, England on 15th November 2004. Photocopy of letter attached.
21.
Controlled plague outbreaks thrice in Distt. Shimla (H.P), at the risk of his life with remarkably small number of deaths as compared to the number of deaths in America & other plague prone countries of the world during plague epidemic outbreaks there.
22.
Successfully solved the Mass Hysteria problem of the girls of Higher Secondary Girls School Rohru during June, 1991 in the capacity of ultimate resort because of the absolute failure of qualified doctors, including the Govt. administration, local deities, God, Goddesses & Tantra Mantra. 23.
Dr. Retola’s A.C.R.s remained throughout outstanding for his outstanding & extra ordinary achievements till his superannuation on 31-03-05.
24.
The prestigious HIMACHAL GAURAV AWARD bestowed on 20-02-2005 by Punjab Kala Sahithya Academy Jalandhar at Guru Nanak Dev District Library Hall at Jalandhar for his outstanding & risksome services rendered towards the plague patients & their contacts during February 2002 in retaliation to the bestowal of this prestigious award by H.P govt. to a doctor who had very negligible contribution towards plague control of 2002 as compared to Dr. Retola.
25.
His case has been recommended by The Hon’ble  Speaker, H.P. Legislative Assembly Shimla-4, for bestowal of prestigious Padma Shri  Award to His Excellency The President of India.
26.
Rashtriya Rattan Award, Gold Medal & Certificate of Excellence in Medical Science was bestowed upon Dr. J.S.Retola, for his extra ordinary achievements in controlling the plague out break of 2002, by His Excellency Sh. A.R.Kidwai, The Hon’ble Governor of Haryana on 5th August 2005 at Chandigarh in retaliation to Govt. of HP decision for selecting inefficient doctor for this award.
27.
The President J.M.Evans of A.B.I., U.S.A., has announced his nomination to enter the Order of American Ambassador as a Sovereign Ambassador. This is a major & distinctive honour warranted by his achievements, dated: 10-03-2006. 
28.
Dr. J.S.Retola, Ist Registrar HP Medical Council Shimla-1 has been selected by the IBC Cambridge/Oxford University England to confer upon him “the prestigious Marie Curie Award, Medal & Certificate of High Achievement during the Inaugural World Forum events going to be celebrated at oxford university w.e.f 4th to 9th July 2006 under the special component “The Global Year of Medicine & Health Care 2006”.  He is the only invitee from India to attend this World Forum events function.
